CHANDIGARH: Dharmender Silani, a mandal-level BJP leader in Haryana's Jhajjar district, shot at his cousin with an unlicensed weapon for casting his vote in favour of Congress in the Lok Sabha elections on Sunday.
Silani shot at Raja Singh thrice - twice on his legs and on his stomach. Singh was rushed to hospital, where he is stable. Police have booked Silani in a case of attempted murder and the Arms Act. Silani, however, is absconding.

Silani is a former member of the Bahadurgarh civic body and an office-bearer of BJP's mandal unit. His elder brother, Harender Singh, is a local Congress functionary and a former councillor. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Silani had asked Raja and his family to vote for BJP.
"Raja chose to opt for the party and the candidate suggested by Harender and voted accordingly. Silani and Raja had an altercation on Sunday night as well," police said. On Monday , Silani went to Raja's house with a .315 bore gun and shot at Raja.
