The
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has set a deadline of a year to complete several key flyovers which are part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP). The flyovers, planned keeping in mind future needs of the city, are expected to ease traffic woes.
Among the flyovers that are expected to be completed are the Bairamalguda right-hand side (RHS) flyover, which is set to be ready by 2020. When contacted, GHMC chief engineer (projects) G Sridhar did not confirm the exact month of the project’s completion but said it would be early next year.
The GHMC is constructing 14 structures, which include flyovers and underpasses across LB Nagar. The Bairamalguda RHS flyover will help ease traffic from LB Nagar to Owaisi junction.
LB Nagar underpass is also expected to be completed by December this year. The underpass is coming up at a cost of Rs 18.55 crore. In total, flyovers at LB Nagar and the surrounding areas are expected to come up at a cost of Rs 448 crore.
The Kamineni RHS flyover is set to be completed in May. The left-hand side flyover was inaugurated in August last year. The junction witnesses heavy traffic because it connects the city with
Vijayawada Highway.
The
Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge will also be completed around February next year, said Sridhar. The cable bridge is being constructed to ease traffic on roads from
Jubilee Hills leading to Financial District and
Gachibowli. Works are being taken up at a cost of Rs 184 crore here.
