After Lok Sabha elections 2019, MNS chief Raj Thackeray gears up for Maharashtra assembly polls

After campaigning against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the Lok Sabha elections, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray is now gearing up for state Assembly polls. On Monday, Thackeray held a meeting of party workers in Thane to discuss further course of action for the assembly polls.

According to Hindustan Times, Thackeray gave a pep talk to his workers asking them to reach out to the masses. “Irrespective of the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections, start preparing for the Assembly polls. You need to shed your arrogance and win the hearts of people. Don’t do anything which will sully the name of the party,” Thackeray told party workers.

In the meeting, Raj Thackeray spoke about two issues, namely drought in the state and Assembly poll preparation. He also said that he won’t tour the drought-affected areas. “What will I do visiting them, when I am not in a position to offer them any relief? It is not a tourist spot,” said Thackeray, reported the Hindustan Times. In the meeting, Thackeray also announced the reshuffle in the organisation and named new chiefs for his party cells.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’ ‘cloud cover’ theory on the Balakot air strike, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray said the whole world was laughing at India. Addressing a party workers Thackeray sarcastically added that the United Nations has recently passed a resolution that all warring nations should go to battle during monsoon only. “The cloud cover in monsoon will make it difficult to detect the enemy. The latest technology has been credited to Modi,” Thackeray said to laughter from party activists.
