A one-and-a-half-year-old baby, who fell from the terrace of his house in Choolaimedu on May 4, succumbed to injuries at a government hospital on Sunday.

The boy was the second son of Moideen (31) a car driver, and Bhanu (23), a home maker. The elder son is aged 4, said police, adding that the family lived on the first floor of an independent house at Gangamman Koil Street in Choolaimedu.
On May 4, Nazeer and his elder brother were playing with a ball in the terrace in the presence of their mother Bhanu, who is pregnant. When the ball fell from the terrace, the elder one went down to pick it. Bhanu had gone to fetch water at that time. Nazeer crawled to the edge of the terrace and peeped down to see his brother when he slipped.
With severe head injuries, he was rushed to ICH in Egmore and was referred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH). Later, he was transferred back to ICH, where he was undergoing treatment. Choolaimedu police have registered a case under Section 174 and further inquiry is on.
The doctors at the Institute of Child Health and Hospital, Egmore, where she has been undergoing treatment, could not save Mohammed Nazeer who suffered grievous head injuries.
