Spurt in snatchings as 4 cases rock city, Panchkula in 24 hrs

CHANDIGARH/PANCHKULA: Within 24-hours, four snatching cases were reported in Chandigarh and Panchkula on Sunday evening. Increasing snatching incidents has created fear among the residents of the Tricity.
The first complaint was given to the cops by Sumit Jain, a resident of Hisar. He told the police that he came to Panchkula to attend a marriage function of one of his relative with his family members. After attending the function, when his sister-in-law came out of Western Court Hotel in Sector 10, Panchkula, at midnight to go in the parking near her car, two bike-borne youths came and snatched her handbag. Her handbag had Rs 2,500 in cash, two silver coins, a gold set and four gold rings.
Another complaint was given to the cops by Rachna, a resident of Sector 21, Panchkula.
She reported to the police that she was leaving from her office in Sector 21 at 3.15pm and suddenly two youngsters on an Activa scooter, wearing helmets, came and pushed her and snatched her handbag and gold chain from her neck.

In a case registered in Chandigarh, a woman resident of Manimajra reported to the police that two unknown persons, occupants of a motorcycle, sped away after snatching her handbag which contained a mobile phone, identity cards and some documents near the Fun Republic, Chandigarh. The police have registered a case at Manimajra police station.
In another case of snatching reported in Chandigarh, the police have added charges of robbery. Three unknown persons, occupants of an auto rickshaw, sped away after beating a person and snatched his bag containing one mobile phone, identity cards and cash Rs 1,500 from Sector 37C, Chandigarh.
