Rampe fined for 'little girl' umpire sledge, climbing on goal post
The AFL has slammed Dane Rampe's comments towards an umpire as "derogatory" and "completely unacceptable".
The league has issued the Sydney captain with a $10,000 fine for telling umpire Jacob Mollison he "talks like a little girl", half of which has been suspended for the rest of his career. Rampe was given a fully suspended $1000 fine for climbing the goal post.
In total, he is out of pocket $5000 for his controversial night at the office.
Despite the furore created by Rampe's bizarre behaviour after the siren, the AFL deemed the defender's sledge towards the umpire as the more serious offence.
Rampe, who was asked by the AFL to explain his actions and comments, apologised on Monday via the Sydney Swans website.
Discussions have been raised about the umpire's decision not to pay a free kick against Rampe when Bomber David Myers was taking a set shot for goal from about 60 metres out after the siren.
Myers did not make the distance, but the free kick been paid, the shot would have been taken from the middle of the goal square.
Sydney won the match by five points
