Workshop for girl students launched

They will undergo training in English, local language

Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), a unique initiative of NTPC Limited to conduct four-week residential workshop for 120 students who passed out fifth class, was launched at the Simhadri Super Thermal Station, Deepanjalinagar on Monday.

The programme, taken up under its CSR activity, is meant for government school students from the neighbouring areas. It designed on the concept that educated girls will in future help to improve the standards of the family and in turn enhance the developmental standards of society.

The students will undergo training in English, local language, environmental science and mathematics, extracurricular activities including arts, sports, dance, music, computers and civil defence for holistic personality development.

The GEM programme was inaugurated by Chief General manager V. Sudarshan Babu. A cultural programme was organised on the occasion.

The CGM in his speech emphasised on the utility of the programme and congratulated all the parents for encouraging their wards to take part in this residential workshop.
