De Ligt 'agrees Barcelona deal'

Matthijs de Ligt has reportedly agreed the numbers on a deal to join Barcelona this summer, according Spanish reports.

The Holland international is a Premier League target, with both Manchester United and Liverpool being linked with the centre-back in recent weeks.

But Liverpool already have a number of top quality centre-backs on their books including Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

This has left the door open for Barcelona, who have already signed De Ligt’s Ajax team-mate Frenkie de Jong for £67million ahead of the window opening.

The Catalan giants have made it quite clear they are interested in signing De Ligt.

And according to Oriol Domenech, talking on the Club de la Mitjanit programme on Esport 3, the figures to get the deal done have already been agreed.

Domenech claims De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola met with Barcelona representatives in Monaco to thrash out the finer details of the transfer, and that the Spanish club are confident of completing the deal.

Ryan Sessegnon update

Spurs are reportedly in pole position to land Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon, though Paris Saint-Germain retain a serious interest.

Liverpool have been linked with the talented attacker but the Daily Mail outline that talks are already underway between the two London clubs.

Fulham value Sessegnon at £40million - but Tottenham want to pay closer to £25million.

Despite the discrepancy in valuation, it is expected a middle ground will be found in the coming days.

Sessegnon wants to remain in the Premier League, with a move to Tottenham understood to be his preferred destination.

Tottenham injury latest ahead of Champions League final

Jan Vertonghen is confident he will be fit for the Champions League final against Liverpool.

The Tottenham defender injured an ankle against Ajax in the second leg of the semi-final and left the Amsterdam Arena on crutches and his right foot in a protective boot.

Vertonghen did not play in Spurs’ final league game of the season on Sunday – the 2-2 home draw against Everton.

The Guardian report “it is understood that although Vertonghen cannot be 100% sure at present, he does feel confident about his prospects for the final. He was seen walking freely on Sunday – without crutches, a boot or any apparent discomfort”.

Pochettino has given his players a two-day break but they will be back to work on Wednesday.

The Spurs boss believes the long break until the final will benefit his team, because it gives players the chance to recover.

Harry Kane (ankle ligaments) and Harry Winks (groin) are expected to be available. The situation regarding Davinson Sánchez (thigh) is unclear.

Timo Werner latest

Timo Werner’s future remains far from certain after RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff hinted the striker might favour a move to Liverpool over Bayern Munich this summer.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent months and looks set to leave Leipzig this summer after refusing to sign a new deal with the club.

With just a year left on his current contract, the 23-year-old had been expected to remain in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich reportedly leading the chase for his signature.

However, Mintzlaff has opened the door on a potential move elsewhere for Werner, name-dropping Liverpool when insisting Leipzig had no agreement with the Bavarians.

“The situation is still the same. Timo Werner would rather not sign an extension,” he told Sky, cited by BuliNews.

“But that could change.

“I don’t think it’s completely out of the question that he could extend his deal. We haven’t talked to Bayern Munich about Timo Werner yet.

“Maybe he doesn’t even want to go to Munich. Maybe he would rather join Tuchel in Paris, Klopp at Liverpool or Favre at Dortmund.”

Italy striker admits he 'dreams' of playing for Liverpool

Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi admitted it is his “dream” to play for Liverpool.

The Italy international has scored 56 goals in 186 appearances across all competitions for his side.

Juventus, Inter and Roma are all reportedly keeping a close eye on Berardi’s progress and, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport , he has discussed the possibility of a summer switch.

The 24-year-old stated he would consider a move to AC Milan before revealing Liverpool would be his ideal next destination.

He said: “If an offer arrives, be it from Milan or another club, I will evaluate it with my club.

“And if I hear that it is the right proposal, to be taken on the fly, this time I will say to Sassuolo: ‘I’ll take it.’

“Being able to choose, I would play in Liverpool.

“Changing remains difficult for me, but it no longer frightens me, I would do it.

“The next goal is to play in Europe, but at a club where I can be used a lot, if not always. That is my priority.”

Rodgers reveals how Liverpool signed Origi

Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed how Liverpool signed Champions League hero Divock Origi and labelled the Belgian a “great talent”.

The striker scored the winner for the Redsat Newcastle to keep them in the title race, before scoring twice to complete the Reds’ incredible four-goal comeback against Barcelona in the semi-final of the European Cup.

“Divock is a big talent,” Rodgers said.

“He is one that when we signed him, part of the deal was that he had to stay at Lille. He had broken through to the Belgian team as a youngster, showed his talents and we spotted him.

“We had him at Melwood, the scouting team there had a wonderful presentation showing him from 15 years of age and we showed him how we would like to progress his game.

“He is a great talent. He hasn’t been allowed to show it as much as he would like because of the talent that is there, but he has shown his talent in the week and against Newcastle on the weekend as well.

“He is a great guy, he has a dad who had a great history in the game as well.”
