Labor leader Bill Shorten will campaign in Tasmania today as the opposition aims to stave off a Liberal threat to seats on the north of the island.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison is ramping up his efforts in the last days of campaigning with a cross-country blitz of crucial seats in three states.

He starts today in Adelaide, where Liberal MP Nicole Flint is fighting to hold on to her marginal seat of Boothby, then will fly to Geelong to lend junior minister Sarah Henderson a hand as she faces a similar battle in Corangamite. He then jets to Tasmania, where the coalition is trying to win back Braddon from Labor MP Justine Keay.

Werribee line update

Here's the latest for those suffering on the Werribee line.

Train services have now resumed between Newport and Werribee after overhead lines were damaged yesterday near Laverton.

Citybound services are running express between Laverton and Newport while outbound services are running via the Altona Loop between Newport and Laverton. Citybound passengers from Seaholme, Altona and Westona should take a train through to Laverton and change there for a citybound service.

Passengers are still being advised to allow up to an extra 45 minutes travel time.
