LS polls: IT raids conducted at hotel where CM H D Kumaraswamy stayed

Sleuths with the seized material
HUBBALLI: Sleuths of Income Tax and flying squad team conducted raids on a hotel here where chief minister H D Kumaraswamy stayed over a complaint that cash and some material was stored to influence voters in the Kundgol assembly constituency.
The search was conducted at Hotel Dennisons on Monday when Kumaraswamy was addressing an election rally in Kundgol. The officials searched all the rooms and did not found anything controversial.
A raid was also conducted by the team at a room of Cotton County Club on Gokul Road on Monday late night.
The team seized 11 portraits of late minister CS Shivalli, gold colour coated 50 small size bowls, seven voters list of Kundgol constituency and some campaign material from room number 307 of the Club.
A local resident Chandrashekhar Gokak has registered a case with Goku Road police alleging that the election material was stored to influence voters in the Kundgol Assembly constituency.
Siddaramaiah questions timing
Reacting on raids, Siddaramaiah questioned the timing of the IT raids. Speaking to media here on Tuesday, the former chief minister alleged that the raids were selective.

He said,"We are not against IT raid, but the timing of the raid and persons are not appropriate. When Yeddyurappa, Jagadish Shettar others, too, are staying here, why was search not conducted at their rooms?"
He asked why only search were conducted in the rooms of Congress leaders and why not the rooms of BJP leaders.
