A paan shop owner, who was set ablaze by a customer in Gurugram, breathed his last on Monday at Safdurjung Hospital in Delhi.
The victim, Abdul Shakur, was burnt alive by one his customers who refused to pay for three cigarettes on May 4, the police said.
The accused, Kanhaiya, had a heated argument with 55-year-old Shakur over non-payment for cigarettes on May 3. Later, on May 4, Kanhaiya went back to the shop. He bought a cigarette from Abdul. After lighting the cigarette, he threw petrol on the shop owner and flipped the cigarette on him, setting him on fire.
The accused was arrested on the site, while Abdul was taken to Safdarjung Hospital in a critical condition. The victim passed away on Monday.
The police are investigating the matter, official said.
