PATIALA: A
bank manager was allegedly shot at by the bank’s
security guard after the duo landed in a heated argument at Samana in
Punjab's Patiala district on Tuesday.
The manager of the bank attempted to escape the fire opened upon him, but the bullet hit his arm following which he was rushed to the nearby government hospital.
The police claimed that the incident took place at around 4pm at a Bank of India branch at Samana when the security guard, identified as Nirmal Singh, landed in a quarrel with the bank manager over an issue of depositing money in his own account.
The police added that as the bank manager, identified as Yogesh Kumar, refused to sort out the security guard’s problem, the guard opened fire on him leaving him injured. The panic gripped the entire bank, but the guard was nabbed by other bank officials and the police were informed about the incident.
The bank officials managed to rush the injured bank manager Yogesh Kumar to the hospital in Samana but he was referred to a higher institute. Manager Yogesh was later hospitalized at Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala where he is undergoing treatment.
Samana deputy superintendent of police said that a case was registered against the accused security guard who was arrested and the further probe into the matter was on.
