KOLKATA:
Mayor Firhad Hakim has decided to take his office to the city’s boroughs and address the problems being faced by people.
He took the decision in keeping with the model introduced by chief minister
Mamata Banerjee to take the cabinet to districts for good governance. In a circular issued by municipal commissioner Khalil Ahmed on Saturday, the heads of all essential civic departments have been asked to be present at borough offices across the city as per the mayor’s schedule.
Sources in the mayor’s office confirmed that Hakim had expressed his desire to meet people at the boroughs to take a call on their long pending grievances.
Sources said Hakim has been miffed with some officials in boroughs, who are not reacting to the grievances of people on time.
