Man robbed, thrown off moving train

Vadodara: A young man travelling in Dehradun Express was reportedly robbed and pushed out of the moving train near Samlaya junction early on Tuesday morning. The man identified as Vijay Simliya fell on the tracks and his left leg came under the train’s wheels.
Vijay was rushed to the SSG Hospital for treatment but he lost his left leg.
While under treatment, Vijay said that he was travelling in Dehradun Express from Palghar and was seated in the general compartment. He said that when the train slowed down near Samlaya junction near Vadodara, some unidentified men sitting nearby picked up fight with him. They robbed him of Rs 5,000 and then pushed him off the moving train. Vijay works as a casual labourer and his employer had given him the cash.

The government railway police (GRP), however, denied that such incident had occurred and didn’t even file a complaint. “We got a memo from the station master that a man has fallen off Dehradun Express and was taken to SSG Hospital where his leg was amputated.
He was then shifted to Ahmedabad for further treatment. We, however, have no knowledge of any robbery attempt in the train so we haven’t filed any complaint,” said Yashwant Vaghela, police inspector, GRP. He added that it is not possible to rob any passenger in the train in broad daylight.
