Jacob Mannaraprayil, Corepiscopa, president of the Kerala Madhya Nirodhana Samiti and long-time secretary of the Angamali diocese of the Orthodox faction of the Malankara Church, passed away at a private hospital near Kochi on Monday. He was 74.
A prominent member of the Orthodox group clergy, Father Mannaraprayil was admitted to hospital more than a week ago following cardiac arrest. The end came around 7.30 p.m. The funeral will take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Thrikkunnathur seminary near Aluva, church sources said.
Father Mannaraprayil was born near Pothanikkad in Ernakulam district and was serving vicar of the Kizhakkambalam Dayara at the time of his death. He was formerly managing committee member of the Orthodox Church as well as the manager of the Thrikkunnathu seminary.
