When the SSLC results were announced on April 30, Meghana M., a student of Sadvidya High School, had mixed feelings about her score of 588 out of 625.

Though she had scored high marks in most of the subjects, she was disappointed with her 70 out of 100 in mathematics. Ms. Meghana was sure that she had performed much better in her favourite subject. Her father Mohan V., a resident of Vidyaranyapuram and a building contractor, believed his daughter and applied for photocopies of the mathematics answer script by paying a fee of ₹405. On examination of the answer script, the father and daughter found that there was an error in mark totalling. The very next day, Mr. Mohan made a trip to the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board office in Malleswaram in Bengaluru and applied for re-totalling.

Ms. Meghana had, in fact, scored 100 out of 100 in mathematics. With her total score going up to 618 out of 625, she is the third highest scorer in her school.

Ms. Meghana, who is planning to study Science (PCMB) in Sadvidya PU College, aims to become an aeronautical engineer.
