CCTV footage shows man stabbed in face, chest in random Brisbane attack
Security cameras have captured the moment a man was approached by a stranger outside a Brisbane liquor store before being stabbed in the face and chest moments later.
The victim suffered numerous nasty gashes and was in a serious but stable condition in the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday awaiting surgery on his wounds.
Police said the 38-year-old man was standing outside First Choice Liquor in Fortitude Valley at the intersection of Ann Street and Commercial Road just before 11pm on Sunday.
The victim was approached by a man he did not know, a short conversation ensued before the stranger pulled a knife and stabbed him.
The attacker stabbed the victim several more times as he lay on the ground before a passer-by pushed the knife-wielding man away and he bolted along Ann Street.
Police said the attacker was in his mid-20s with a tanned complexion, solid build and short dark hair.
He was wearing glasses, black shorts, a blue jacket and black runners.
