Alleges deletion of names from list

AAP South Delhi candidate Raghav Chadha on Sunday alleged that there was rigging by the BJP in a polling booth in South Delhi, while several AAP leaders claimed that people’s names were deleted on a “large-scale” from the voter’s list. The issue was raised by the party before the election as well.

Mr. Chadha alleged that BJP workers were in collusion with the police and were casting fake votes after removing the indelible ink. “The BJP workers are moving around in the polling booth [in Sangam Vihar] wearing party mufflers and one person can be seen casting vote four times. We have found 8-10 such people and even caught one,” he said. He claimed that this was being done at the behest of his BJP rival Ramesh Bidhuri.

“The BJP is casting fake votes. We will not allow this gundagardi by Ramesh Bidhuri and his party,” he said. He alleged that a police officer was allowing the BJP supporters to vote multiple times.

AAP leader and Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot alleged that there is a large-scale vote deletion in Jai Vihar I and Najafgarh. “Voters unable to find their votes at polling booths. It is true that on large scale votes have been deleted [sic],” Mr. Gahlot wrote on Twitter on Sunday morning.

Later in the day, Health Minister Satyendar Jain also raised a similar complaint. “Vote deleted this time. All are regularly voting in the past [sic],” he said in a tweet.

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, meanwhile, said: “I am of the view that the BJP is going to win all the seven seats in Delhi. AAP will be at the third position and some of its candidates may forfeit their security deposits. We are sure that AAP and Congress will allege malfunctioning of EVMs after their defeat because when they lose, the EVMs are defective and when they win they find those functioning properly.” Earlier, AAP had alleged that the BJP was desperate to remain in power and “30 lakh voters had been deleted” from the voter’s list.
