DHARAMSHALA: The scientists at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)at Palampur had developed a technique of fruit processing increasing their shelve life benefiting fruit grower farmers across the country. Processed fruits have no weight and have turned crispy like snacks.
The colors, shape, taste and flavor of the fruit was same but the only thing which was changed was its form. Through this technique the fruits have become crispy which has a shelve life of about four months. Scientists claimed that it was for the first time that such thing would be introduced in the Indian markets.
“It for the first time that such technique would be introduced in the markets. It will not only benefit the farmers but industrialists too. We worked on this project for last many years after which it has now succeeded” Dr. Sanjay Kumar, the director of the institute told TOI.
He said that these fruits can be used with tea or coffee.
“If one could have 50 gram of this fruit, it means he is carrying almost half KG of fruit with him. It is light on stomach” added Kumar.
The scientists are yet waiting to sell this technique to an entrepreneur. They said that if this technique would be introduced to the fruit farmers of Himachal Pradesh then the wastage of their produce will end and they would get double price of their crops.
Scientists said that the fruits have no side effects and these are beneficial for the patients suffering from various ailments.
