The news sites reported the incident took place around 1:36 a.m. ET as Flight 8615, which was carrying 50 passengers, was taxiing to a gate at the Canadian airport.
Peel Regional Police Sgt. Bancroft Wright said the fuel truck driver was responsible for striking the plane and has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle.
Wright added that two passengers and one flight attendant were treated for injuries.
A spokesperson with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority confirmed to NBC that three people were transported to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries.
The flight was originally headed from Toronto to Sudbury, Canada, but turned back to the airport due to weather conditions.
Air Canada has not yet issued an official statement.
