Officials of the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW), along with Guntur Rural police, reviewed security at AP Secretariat and High Court building on Sunday.
ISW Deputy Inspector General (DIG) P.V.S. Ramakrishna and Guntur Rural Superintendent of Police S.V. Rajasekhara Babu held a meeting with the Special Protection Force (SPF), Bomb Detection (BD) teams and other wings at the Secretariat.
The officers enquired about the under vehicle scanners, Bomb Detection and Sniffer Dog teams, Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMDs), Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs) and other security gadgets.
“We have sent a requisition to the government on requirement of security gadgets at Secretariat and High Court building. Today, we reviewed the security as well as the requirement of the gadgets once again,” a police officer said.
The ISW also conducted awareness to the BD teams, SPF and other police personnel on the latest security gadgets, the officer told The Hindu.
The DIG and the SP reviewed on allocation of force at the AP High Court and the Secretariat. They directed the security personnel to be alert, scan the visitors and their vehicles and keep a vigil in the vicinity.
The BD and Sniffer Dog teams should check all the roads en route to the Secretariat and other high secured buildings, scan the roadsides, culverts, if any, and the bushes thoroughly, the officers said.
Director General of Police (DGP) R.P. Thakur, during a video conference recently, directed all the Police Commissioners and SPs, to be alert and step up security at all vital installations in wake of the ISIS terror strikes in Sri Lanka, in which over 250 people were killed and several others were injured.
The unit heads were asked to review security at all high secured places, ports, airports, SHAR, defence installations, sea bed villages, bus and railway stations and other important places and submit the report in a month.
“We directed the police to keep a tab on the movements of strangers and intensify patrolling to prevent any untoward incidents,” another police officer said.
