Happy Days

Theo Walcott was pleased to end the season with a goal against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

And he was even happier that Manchester City retained their Premier League title ahead of Liverpool!

Vlasic Latest

Turkish newspaper Star believe Besiktas want to sign Nikola Vlasic ahead of next season.

The Croatian has enjoyed a starring role at CSKA Moscow this term after joining on loan from Everton last summer.

His seven goals and eight assists have caught the eye of Besiktas according to Star via Sport Witness, with Vlasic set to return to Goodison Park for pre-season.

Money Talk

Everton’s Premier League participation earned the Blues £126m this season according to Football Insider.

Their eighth-place standing meant Marco Silva’s side received the same amount as they did last term.

After 18 games were shown live on television, Everton were handed a £79m base fee, £21m from screenings and £25m for their league position.

Now what to do with all that money?

Osman's Depression Battle

Former Everton favourite Leon Osman has opened up on his battle with depression.

The 37-year-old made over 400 appearances for the Blues during his career despite not breaking into the first-team until he turned 23.

A popular figure on and off the field, Osman told the Mirror that it was not until the tragic death of Gary Speed that he seriously reflected on his own mental well-being.

“I’d have been 18 or 19 when it started to get to me,” he said. “I suffered a serious knee injury – and then just kept getting injured.

“It felt like I couldn’t stay fit for more than five minutes. I was either waiting for another operation or undergoing rehabilitation, while I watched lads who I’d played with when we won the FA Youth Cup getting into Everton’s first team.

“Tony Hibbert, Franny Jeffers and Richard Dunne. Danny Cadamaeteri as well. I’d been left behind.

“My mates, all living my dream. I was jealous of them. I thought I wasn’t going to make it, that I would never play in the Premier League. I was down, just so down.

“Looking back, I recognise that I was depressed. I know now that I needed help. The problem back then was there was no one to turn to, no one to talk to.

“But I was one of the lucky ones. I had my family. I had people in my corner who recognised the place I was in and kept pulling me back up.

“Some people aren’t so fortunate. Some people bury their feelings until it’s too late – like Gary Speed.”

Tottenham Reaction

Everton played out their final game of the Premier League season in the glorious surroundings of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday.

A 2-2 draw was a positive end of Marco Silva’s first campaign in charge as the Blues mounted a spirited comeback in the capital only to be denied by Christian Eriksen’s late equaliser.

Here’s everything you need to read about the game including Andre Gomes transfer talk, player ratings and Phil Kirkbride’s verdict.

Manchester United Join Gueye Race

Manchester United will rival PSG for the signature of Idrissa Gana Gueye according to the Daily Mail.

The Everton midfielder has been in stunning form since January when the French champions had several deadline day bids rejected.

The Mail, however, believe Gueye could now have played his last game for the Blues, who value him at £40m.

A French speaker, it is said the 29-year-old would be open to joining PSG but United have now ‘made their intentions clear’.
