The Taramani railway station is slowly becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

The unauthorised disposal of sewage water through the stormwater drain has left a huge puddle in front of the sprawling MRTS railway station.

Sewage overflow

The stormwater drain was overflowing with sewage and the Railways Department is unaware of the problem, complained commuters. T. Murugan, an auto-rickshaw driver, said one could not sit in peace due to mosquitoes.

A senior official of the Southern Railway said to their knowledge, no complaints were made, but now that it had been brought to their notice, they would take necessary steps.
