Ludhiana: Joy Gupta despite suffering from
cerebral palsy has secured 78.66% in Class XII in humanities stream in PSEB results which were declared on Saturday evening.
Joy Gupta was born in January 2000. At birth, the occipital lobe in his brain was pressed which resulted in a poor bodily coordination and poor vision. The child had delayed milestones physically, but was a sharp learner since birth.
He shifted his school from Kundan Vidya Mandir when he was in Class III to Jesus Sacred Heart School and continued till Class X there. He faced hardships in studies as he was not able to see from the blackboard and read books which had letters in normal font size. His parents thus got him books which had larger prints.
After completing his matriculation from CBSE, he appeared in Class XII exams from Ekta Public School with the help of a writer and scored 78.66 % with 354 marks out of 450.
Joy said, “My classmates, and school teachers and my brother Bhadesh cooperated a lot. Due to the efforts made by my family, I managed to enjoy learning.” His mother, Rittu Mittal, who works at PAU said, “Everyone in our family motivated him to excel and do well in the exams.”
He wants to pursue Computer Sciences and wants to represent India as a special cricketer.
Narrating his story, he said, ‘I was bullied by my fellow mates many times and felt disappointed. But then I found my true friend in my younger brother, Bhavesh, who despite being younger always supported me with all his love.”
