Warner bags Orange Cap, Tahir claims Purple

Hyderabad, SRH’s David Warner bagged Orange Cap remaining top scorer and CSK’S leg-spinner Imran Tahir claimed Purple Cap taking maximum wickets in the 12th edition of the IPL.

Warner finished the season at top with 692 runs with a century and eight fifties in 12 matches before leaving for World Cup preparation while KXIP’s KL Rahul was second highest run-scorer with 593 runs in 14 matches.

Showing his class with the ball, CSK’s Imran Tahir claimed two wickets in the IPL final against MI and claimed the top spot with 26 wickets this season. He displaced Kagiso Rabada of Delhi Capitals from the top spot who had taken 25 wickets.

Youngster Shubman Gill impressed everyone with his performance and received the Emerging player of the season award. He scored 296 runs with three fifties in 14 matches.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was declared the Man of the Match in the IPL final for his brilliant spell. Displaying his calmness and composure in the death overs, Bumrah picked 2/14.

Kieron Pollard who is known for his fielding skills, got the Perfect Catch of the Season award for dismissing Suresh Raina with his screamer at deep point in the league stage whereas Andre Russell bagged the Most Valuable Player Award for his extra-ordinary batting this season.

Sunrisers Hyderbad won the Fairplay Award for the season and SRH’s mentor VVS Laxman collected the trophy on behalf of the team.

Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) and Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) received the Pitch and Ground award respectively.
