Hunt unhappy with ongoing Wayne Arendse saga

2019-05-13 09:37

Cape Town - Wits coach Gavin Hunt says he is not pleased by the delay in the Premier Soccer League's (PSL) appeal against its own Disciplinary Committee's (DC) decision regarding Mamelodi Sundowns' Wayne Arendse.

Arendse was used in a match against Wits last year despite not being named on the team-sheet which was submitted. This is against National Soccer League regulations.

The league's Disciplinary Committee handed down a R250 000 fine to Sundowns while Arendse was fined R50 000.

However, the PSL appealed against the decision and a possible points deduction could still be faced by the Brazilians.

He said: "But there's still a court case going on. We don't know what is going to happen. It is mind-boggling that a team might lift the trophy now, and then they might take the trophy away.

"We don't know what is going to happen. It should never have reached this stage. This should have been resolved before the end of the season.

"Our case has been pending since September last year. It is very frustrating for Sundowns. Not that we've protested or anything else. We didn't break the rules, but obviously we are disappointed."
