All the Cameos in Game of Thrones Season 8 So Far

Game of Thrones' eighth and final season might be a bit maddening for fans thanks to its breakneck pace and drastic character changes, but there's at least one thing that's been completely consistent with previous seasons: a penchant for celebrity cameos.

Even if some of the episodes have been a bit too dark, we've managed to spot a handful of familiar faces among the dizzying crowds in Season 8. Here's a look at all the famous people who've popped up in each of the final season's episodes so far.

Yes, that was Rob McElhenney of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame who got an arrow through his eye while guarding Euron Greyjoy's (Pilou AsbĂk) Iron Fleet. McElhenney has a long history of interactions with Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and it all culminated with his brief but gnarly death scene in the Season 8 premiere as Theon's (Alfie Allen) forces rescued Yara (Gemma Whelan) from his uncle's ship.

The premiere also featured a cheeky wink to Ed Sheeran's character, when one of Bronn's (Jerome Flynn) courtesans mentioned that the "ginger" named Eddie "came back with his face burnt right off" after the loot train attack.

Game of Thrones' second episode of the season, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," mostly kept the action in-house with the heroes of the North, so we didn't spot any errant celebs roaming around there. But the third episode, which featured the Battle of Winterfell, allowed country music superstar Chris Stapleton to have a little fun by appearing as one of the fallen Wildlings who were summoned up by the Night King when Jon Snow (Kit Harington) tried to attack him. Stapleton, a self-proclaiemed superfan of Game of Thrones, basically had his people call the show's people, and the rest was TV history.

The episode also featured an appearance by famed movie monster actor Javier Botet, who portrayed a nimble wight hunting Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) in that creepy library scene.

The show couldn't possibly draw to a close without showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff returning to the screen one last time. The two had previously appeared among the Hall of Faces in Braavos, but this time, they were alive and well as a pair of Wildlings raising a tusk goblet alongside Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) in the Great Hall celebration scene. Perhaps it was one of them who accidentally left a Starbucks cup on the set.

At least one of the victims to the Mad Queen bonanza that went down in King's Landing should ring a bell (badumtss). Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was seen on-screen during the fiery maelstrom, attempting to escape the crowds before being consumed by the blaze all the same. "It was just for a few seconds, but I'll always be thankful to have been on the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones," he wrote on Instagram after the airing, revealing a closer look at his costuming. Some eagle-eyed fans also spotted him among the line-up of archers, before their posts were destroyed by Drogon.

Rodgers' cameo probably isn't too much of a surprise for Game of Thrones fans, since the Packers' quarterback had previously appeared in a promo video for the final season, sitting atop the Iron Throne and declaring himself, "Lord Aaron of House Rodgers of Greenwater Bay, the true king of the north."

Game of Thrones airs on Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
