As many as 58,834 students from across the country appeared for the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges for Karnataka (COMEDK) entrance exam for engineering courses in the State on Sunday.
As many as 70,163 students had applied for the exam and the attendance was 83.85%. The exam was held in 133 cities across India, and 24 cities across the State. In Karnataka, the number of candidates who wrote the exam was 18,901 out of 21,417 who registered, an attendance of 88.25%.
The online exam was conducted without any glitches except for one in Bengaluru, S. Kumar, Executive Secretary, COMEDK, said in a statement.
“In one of the 41 centres in Bengaluru, there was a delayed login for the test by some students in one block. The students were provided exactly three hours without any loss of time,” the statement said. No malpractices were reported, he further said.
Students found the online examination of COMEDK less time-consuming as opposed to the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet system in the Common Entrance Test (CET). They said that they could also revisit previous questions and change the answers.
Ganesh Arvind Harkude, a student, said that COMEDK was comparatively easier than CET. “Physics was tougher than mathematics and chemistry,” he added. Neha K. said that she found maths relatively harder than the other two.
While the provisional answer keys will be notified on the COMEDK website on May 16, with an option to challenge the answer key, following which the final answer key will be notified on May 24. The scorecards will be available to the candidates in their respective login on May 27, a press release from COMEDK added.
