MUMBAI: Senior IAS officer Praveen Pardeshi took charge as the new municipal commissioner of Mumbai's civic body BMC on Monday from Ajoy Mehta who has been appointed as Maharashtra's new chief secretary.
Pardeshi told media persons that the preparations by the civic administration for the upcoming monsoon season would be one of his priorities so that life in the city was not disrupted in any way.

He also said that the former civic body chief Mehta has briefed him about the prevailing monsoon preparatory system and the left over desilting work of drains which is required to be done prior to the rains picking up.
"I have also been told that spots in the city which get repeatedly waterlogged have been identified. I am going to take a review of whether the arrangements made to tackle these spots are actually helping or not," Pardeshi added.
