Day two of Fashion Week Australia Resort 20 kicked off in spectacular style on Monday morning after  Australian designer Aje wowed onlookers with a striking launch on Sunday afternoon.

Bec + Bridge impressed with an earthy collection of florals, dusty shades, silks and feminine cuts while P.E Nation offered a glimpse at the weird and wonderful activewear and athleisure trends set to grace the streets in coming seasons.

At midday, beloved Australian label Tigerlily returned to the Fashion Week runway after 17 years with a chic new collection - complete with a hot pink linen suit, whimsical white numbers and pieces stamped with feminine floral designs.

Attendees and street style icons also showcased an array of weird and wonderful looks, with 'frowers' pulling out all the sartorial stops to ensure they stood out from the rest.

Monday concluded with outstanding shows from Jonathan Simkhai and Bassike - both held offsite.

BEC + BRIDGE

This year's collection titled 'Wipe Out' is a 70s inspired collection drawing on the feminine shapes and earthy prints this era is famed for. We're talking flares, peasant-style skirts and jumpsuits.

Inspired by the glassy swells of SoCal's legendary beaches and the backdrop of their local Sydney shores, Bec + Bridge paid homage to a freewheeling paradise, throwing back to the myth and magic of the iconic late 60's and early 70's surf culture.

One of the most notable fashion moments was when a model stepped out in black and white mismatching boots, showing off her dual coloured long sleeved shirt.

The mini hemlines will certainly be making their mark this season, as well as rich and sun kissed colours in deep tones of rust and mustard, accented with shades of violet and ivory.

P.E NATION

This edgy activewear produced by designer Pip Edwards is always a highlight at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and 2019 left no one in the audience disappointed.

The designer started the show with swimwear pieces drenched in makeshift rain. Naturally they had statement caps to keep their scalp dry.

There was a very obviously 80s vibe to the eclectic pieces, including tracksuit pants and brightly coloured crops.

But the resort collection still embodied the modern edge that Pip Edwards is known for.

TIGERLILY

They returned to the stage after a 17-year hiatus to debut a slightly different look to their usual itsy-bitsy bikinis.

Tigerlily CEO Chris Buchanan said this was the best time to come back, considering the brand was gearing up for their 20th anniversary in the coming years.

'In brand terms, it is a renaissance. We felt the time was right to return to the catwalk,' he told AAP.

'Tigerlily is one of Australia's most admired and respected brands however a common misconception is that Tigerlily offers swimwear only.

'At Fashion Week, we will be presenting a more elevated apparel offering - think linens, silks and luxe fabrications, new swim silhouettes with classic Tigerlily prints.'

The mood is playful and fresh, building on ice-cream pastels, aqua, sunset pinks and oranges. There are high voltage moments, but there is also a number of muted tones and crochet designs.

Coconut buttons, raffia accessories and retro shirring add a nostalgic touch to the collection which is paired back with gingham.
