Motorcyclist with fake number plates 'XPLOD' escapes police and remains on the run after reaching speeds of 280km/h on Outback road
- Police attempted to pull the motorcyclist over in Palmerston, south of Darwin
- The rider allegedly slowed down but then sped off reaching speeds of 280km/h
- He was on a black Kawasaki ZX10R which is classified as a 'superbike'
- The motorcyclist was wearing a lime green coloured shirt and black shorts
A daredevil motorcyclist with fake number plates 'XPLOD' is on the run after racing away from police at speeds more than 280km/h.
The rider was travelling down the Stuart Highway near Palmerston, south of Darwin in the Northern Territory, just before 9am on Sunday.
Policed attempted to pull him over and he allegedly began to slow down but sped off along Temple Terrace.
The black Kawasaki ZX10R is one of the fastest production bikes in the world and can reach speeds more than 300km/h.

Senior Sergeant Angela Stringer from Road Policing Command said the actions of the motorcyclist were dangerous .
'This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable. I want to remind all motorists that road safety is everyone's responsibility and to drive so others survive,' she said.
The rider of the motorcycle was last seen wearing a lime green coloured shirt, black shorts, a green and black helmet with a gold coloured reflective visor.
Police are urging anyone with information which may identify the rider to contact Police on 131 444 or call anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
