Collector V. Anbuselvan on Saturday ordered the detention of a bootlegger under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Goondas and Video Pirates Act.
The accused A. Annadurai, 48, of Cuddalore, had several cases of smuggling of illicit liquor pending against him, police sources said. The Prohibition Enforcement Wing registered a case and remanded him in custody.
The Collector ordered his detention under the Bootleggers Act on a request from Superintendent of Police P. Saravanan. The orders were served on Annadurai in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
