On Mother’s Day, musical event‘Maa’ regales audience

Nagpur: Celebrating the birth givers, first teachers and pillar of strength — our mother, ‘Maa’: A Hindi and Marathi music show was jointly organized by AAI Kusumtai Sahare Foundation, Heartbeats Events and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on the occasion of Mother’s Day at Deshpande Hall, Civil Lines, on Sunday.
“One day is too less to celebrate these superwomen who are there with us at every crucial phase and at each of our mundane experience, irrespectively. We have tried our best to incorporate music that celebrates our most precious gift — mother.” And hence commenced the evening with Namrata Agnihotri, the anchor’s address.
The ensemble of artists set to perform during the programme boasted of well-known singers like Prashant Waliokar, Sanjeevani Buty, Prateek Jain and Anushka Kale among others, from across the city. The mood for the evening was set with the soulful rendition of Marathi hit ‘Vithu mauli tu’ by Prashant Sahare and Buty. The next set of 25 songs which included a perfect blend of Marathi as well as Hindi songs along with Agnihotri’s well-timed commentary serenaded the audience and put them in a trance.
Popular numbers such as ‘Tu kitni achhi hai’ sung by Prachi, ‘Hambaroon vaasrale’ by Waliokar, ‘Janam janam’ by Prachi, ‘Chanda o chanda’ by Nitin and ‘Bhay ithle sampat nahi’ belted by Anushka Kale were a hit among the audience.
Prashant Sahare, one of the organizers and performer had a heart attack and underwent angioplasty just 15 days prior to the event. The sheer desire to pay homage to mothers motivated him to recover sufficiently to perform.
The performances struck a chord with the audience and evoked a wave of emotions. The audience could best be described as an emotional wreck as the auditorium reverberated with their thunderous applause.
