The Telangana government on Monday issued orders enhancing the minimum wage rate under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme from ₹ 205 to ₹211 per day with effect from April 1 last.
The revision was made in consonance with a notification issued by the Central government hiking the wage rate for unskilled manual work taken up under the scheme, the State government order issued by Principal Secretary of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Vikas Raj said. Since the MGNREG Act stipulated that when wages were directly linked with the quantity of work, the wages shall be paid according to the schedule of rates fixed by the State government for different types of work every year. Accordingly, the Commissioner of Rural Development has prepared comprehensive Rural Standard Schedule of Rates (RSSR) for 2019-2020 for different categories of works taken up under MGNREGS.
