One person is dead and another injured after a man is accused of attacking them on the appalachian trail friday.
He's now in custody on murder charges.
Kristen gallant spoke with hikers on the trail and has new details about the arrest.

Damascus-- about an hour away from wythe county virginia where a deadly stabbing occurred along the appalachian trail.
When asked if he usually hears of criminal activity on the trails-- larry riddle/sot "no no no."
But after hearing about the death of one hiker-- larry riddle/sot "well it kind of shocked me you know... it saddens me because you know its just senseless."
Saturday james jordan was arrested on one count of murder and another for assault.
Riddle saying-- he's heard stories about hikers coming in contact with jordan before.
Larry riddle/sot "yeah, i've had costumers like back before this even happened, i had a couple guys that stayed with me that that told me they say you know that he came into their cam and he was running his mouth" the hikers sharing some choice words then telling jordan to leave.
Larry riddle/sot "this guy had been in trouble a month or so ago down in tennessee and then north carolina some where he'd been threatening and there's been warning signs out."
Those warning signs include assault charges in unicoi county tennessee last month.
James jordan had been threatening other hikers on the trails with this knife.
Pleading guilty to criminal impersonation among other charges-- he received probation and was ordered to pay fines-- but ended up back on the trails-- leaving hikers shocked that he ended up killing one of their own.
Sot "we push ourselves to the limit and we have people who come out and do this and that's a very sad factor... there's a unity there's a commodity" hikers saddened and shocked by the loss.
