OPS says DMK govt. implemented no welfare schemes

MADURAI

Deputy Chief Minister and AIADMK Coordinator O. Panneerselvam said that DMK president M.K. Stalin could never become the Chief Minister of the State.

Addressing the public during an election campaign for party candidate S. Muniyandi in Tirupparankundram Assembly constituency on Monday, he said that the State witnessed violence during the DMK rule. He blamed the DMK for failing to implement any welfare schemes.

Mr. Panneerselvam alleged that the DMK failed to get the final order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal (CWDT) notified despite sharing power with the Congress at the Centre during the award of the order. “It was done only after Amma (late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa) came to power in Tamil Nadu,” he said.

Stating that the AIADMK government had implemented a number of welfare schemes, he went on to list out some of them such as the housing scheme for the economically poor, distribution of mixers and grinders free of cost, and cash payment of ₹ 1,000 to all family card holders during Pongal.

He said that Mr. Muniyandi, if elected as MLA, would ensure that all State and Central government schemes were implemented in the constituency properly.
