AFL fan is fighting for life after having a heart attack at a footy game

  • A man collapsed in the stands at Optus Stadium in Burswood, WA, on Sunday 
  • He is said to have suffered a heart attack shortly before the end of the match 
  • The man was resuscitated at the scene and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital 

A footy fan was rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack at an AFL game on Sunday.

The spectator, who was attending the Fremantle Dockers and Richmond Tigers game at Optus Stadium in Perth, collapsed in the stands shortly before the end of the match.

The man was resuscitated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Perth Hospital.

His condition is unknown. 

Initial reports from bystanders said the man died at the scene, however, witnesses later said the man is alive and currently recovering.  

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the hospital for comment.
