CHANDIGARH: The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday issued a notice to the
Panjab University on Congress's complaint.
The local unit of Congress through its advocate Pankaj Chandgothia on May 10 had submitted a complaint to the EC regarding model code of conduct violation by ruling party and its candidates
Kirron Kher and
Narendra Modi in making election propaganda in favour of the BJP and PM Modi at an educational institute on May 8 without informing the commission. The university has been asked to furnish its reply in 24 hours to clarify its stand, in a communication sent by the district nodal officer for the model code of conduct.
As per the complaint, an RSS leader Indresh Kumar on May 8 gave a long and adulatory speech praising the PM and his government at an event held at PU's Golden Jubilee Hall.
In a programme titled 'No more Pakistan', the RSS ideologue also said the BJP will form the government again in 2019, the complaint states. "Western and European countries, which once had barred Modi's entry, now are giving him red carpet welcome," said Kumar in his address.
