The MCI team had visited the JLNMCH in connection with permanent recognition and approval for admission of 100 students at the medical college at MBBS and postgraduate levels. The team marked the faculty members and doctors absent during head count. Subsequently, the JLNMCH principal issued show cause notices to them for being absent without permission. The hospital sources said all leaves were cancelled during the period in view of the MCI inspection and Lok Sabha polls.
JLNMCH principal Dr Hemant Kumar Sinha said show-cause notices were issued to 33 doctors, including faculty members. “The erring faculty members include three professors, an associate professor, two assistant professors, 11 tutors and 16 resident doctors. One-day salary of these doctors has also been deducted for skipping duty without approval,” Dr Sinha said.
Altogether 50 seats at MBBS level are recognised in JLMNCH, while 50 more seats are proposed at the institute.
