The Delhi Police on Saturday registered two FIRs based on complaints given by Congress and the BJP, which alleged that AAP was facilitating calls to people, asking them not to vote for the two parties.
Sources said complaints were received by the Delhi CEO from Congress’ North East Delhi candidate Sheila Dixit’s election agent Romila Dhawan, alleging: “AAP members are making spurious calls saying they have conducted a survey and that the party [AAP] is winning and Congress is losing. To make sure that the vote is not split, the voters should not vote for BJP or Congress,” said a senior officer.
The Delhi CEO also received a complaint from BJP’s Girish Sachdeva from the party headquarters. Both the complaints were sent to the police and FIRs were filed. The cases were then sent to the Crime Branch for further investigation. “Cases have been registered on charges of undue influence on elections under relevant sections,” the officer added.
