Organisations come together to rejuvenate biodiversity

Pune: Biospheres, Vichar Kranti Abhiyan, Gayatri Pariwar and Rotary Club of Pune, Prabhat, together will start an initiative ‘Siddh Bet-Alandi environment Eco-restoration project’ to rejuvenate the biodiversity of Alandi and Siddh Bet.

This initiative will start on the occassion of Mothers Day. It was announced in a press conference at Patrakar Bhavan on Friday.

“We have already started rejuvenating Baghirathi Kund but on May 12 we will start the work in a full-fledged manner and will focus on the conservation of existing biodiversity and rejuvenating the water bodies of Siddh Bet and Alandi. We will also conduct the scientific plantation drive in Siddh Bet. This programme will run for next few years and we hope to rejuvenate Siddh Bet, which is a cultural heritage,” said Sachin Punekar, environmentalist and Founder-President of Biospheres.

He further said, “The renewal of Kuber Ganga will also take place under this programme and natives of Alandi Kelgaon will also participate in this initiative of rejuvenating Siddh Bet and Alandi.”
