A combined annual training camp for 680 NCC cadets from various institutions in Alappuzha, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts commenced at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chennithala, on Saturday.
Col. M.C. Jayakrishnan, officer commanding 10 Kerala Battalion NCC Chengannur, officially inaugurated the camp on Sunday.
Officials said that cadets would be imparted specialised military and civil training, including firing, field craft, map reading and obstacle course training, during the camp.
It will also identify cadets with potential for participating in the Thal Sena Camp (TSC).
Besides, the cadets will be given specialised lectures on stress management, drug menace, health and hygiene.
Cultural events
Cadets will be given opportunities to showcase their talents in cultural events to be organised as part of the camp.
The camp is led by Brig. Ajeet Rana, Commander, NCC Group, Kollam.
It will conclude on May 20, 2019.
