The Tondiarpet police have arrested two people for allegedly threatening a pedestrian at knife and attempting rob him. Sources in the police said that Rs 1,000 and a knife has been seized from the accused P Arivazhagan.

The police said that Arivazhagan intercepted T Senthinathan (36) on Thursday and threatened him at knife point. When he refused to part with his valuables, Arivazhagan attacked him and escaped with Rs 2,700. In a similar incident, the Otteri police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly robbing a pedestrian of Rs 5,000. The accused, Prabakaran, was remanded in judicial custody.
