‘Cricket fans should only carry mobile phone and entry ticket’

Cricket fans who are planning to watch the IPL final match at Uppal Stadium have to carry only mobile phones and the entry ticket.

The police said items such as earphones, power banks, cigarette, water bottles and even flags, which most people carry with them when they visit the stadium, would not be allowed inside.

“One should not even carry pens, backpacks, banners and any eatables from outside,” said Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat. He said they have made unprecedented security arrangements for the final match of the 12th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL T-20) in terms of traffic management and deployment of police force at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Over 2,850 police personnel have been deployed as part of security arrangements, he said and added that over 300 CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the stadium, which would be monitored by a team of policemen at a joint command and control room.

SHE Teams have also been deployed to curb the menace of eve-teasing and to keep a watch on the movement of cheer girls.

Mr. Bhagwat said an effective communication system is being maintained with the allocation of VHF sets to each sub-inspector and those above the rank for a quick response. “The scanners installed at the stadium will allow the police and other security personnel to detect explosives and other prohibited material inside the venue. The services of bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs are pressed into service to ensure safety at the stadium as well as the parking places,” he said.
