CHANDIGARH: The election commission (EC) has issued show-cause
notice to BJP candidate
Kirron Kher after Congress submitted complaint against the former for allegedly using religious place for election campaign.
The EC has sought Kher's reply within 24 hours on the matter. The complaint was filed by Congress party through its advocate Pankaj Chandgothia. The complainant alleged that on May 9, BJP workers, who were seen wearing mufflers with BJP symbol on it, were addressing people at a Sector 52 temple. The complainant further alleged that BJP workers were using mikes and speakers of the temple for campaigning of the BJP candidate. The complainant also attached a CD containing a video of the meeting.
The complainant demanded that action should be taken against the BJP and its official candidate Kirron Kher debarring her from contesting
Lok Sabha elections. The candidature of Kirron Kher should also be cancelled in view of the repeated violations of Model code of conduct by the BJP, complainant demanded.
