BEML Ltd celebrates its 55th foundation day across units

BEML Ltd, a Mini Ratna Category-I company under the Ministry of Defence, celebrated its 55th foundation day.
KOLKATA: BEML Ltd, a Mini Ratna Category-I company under the Ministry of Defence, celebrated its 55th foundation day across all its offices and complexes on Saturday. BEML Ltd came into existence in 1964 as a PSU at Bangalore to manufacture railway products and mining equipment.
Subsequently, KGF, Mysore and Palakkad Complexes and a subsidiary company Vigyan Industries Ltd (VIL) were established to manufacture mining and construction equipment as well as defence and aerospace products.
Deepak Kumar Hota, chairman and managing director, BEML Ltd, informed employees of a healthy order book in the current financial year and exhorted them to raise their level of productivity to reach greater heights. He also stressed on the need to adopt ‘smart working’, increasing the use of Artificial Intelligence, 3D Printing and company branding.
“We look to the future with confidence, driven by an inspiring vision, values of trusteeship and vitality powered by a dedicated world class team of human resources. Our aim is to march towards becoming a Navratna Company in the near future,” Hota said in his address at Bangalore.

B R Viswanatha, director (mining & construction), R H Muralidhara, director (defence), Suresh S Vastrad, director (rail & metro) also addressed the gathering which comprised senior officials, employees, executives and union representatives. Meritorious awards were also given to employees for their exceptional contributions.
BEML Ltd is supplying rakes for the East-West Metro Corridor in Kolkata and other similar networks in other cities. The company has also contributed significantly in developing latest equipment for the defence sector.
