Gurgaon: A man has been booked for allegedly opening
fire at an
ice cream factory in Sector 102 and assaulting some workers on Friday with an aim to extort the owner. The crime was recorded in a CCTV camera and police have registered a case of
extortion.
Prakash Singh, a resident of Basai village, lodged a case at Sector 10 police station. He said his sons, Sanjay and Sukhbir, have been running the
factory for the past five years.
According to Singh, the accused had threatened and demanded extortion money from his sons.
At 11.30pm on Friday, the accused reached at the factory and allegedly misbehaved with some of the workers, Singh said. The accused took one of the workers, identified as Dharambir alias Dharamraj, with him and went to Prakash’s house. He tried to forcefully open the gate of the house, but failed, Singh added. He then issued treats to the family members and fired two rounds of bullets in the air.
The complainant said that no one came out of the house fearing for their safety. The accused then went back to factory and vandalised it.
“The accused asked factory workers to tell Prakash that he need to give him Rs 1 lakh otherwise, he will murder his family members,” said Singh. He informed police, following which, a team from Sector 10 police station rushed to the spot.
The accused, identified as Monni alias Monu, is claimed to be a close aide of former gangster Sandeep Gadoli, who was killed in an encounter in Mumbai by Gurgaon police.
Interestingly, a senior police officer said an initial investigation revealed that the accused and the complainant were acquaintances and were involved in a financial dispute. “They met each other in jail and have known each other for a while,” said the officer.
An FIR has been registered against Monni alias Monu under sections 384 (extortion), 452 (house-trespass) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. “We have collected the CCTV footage and trying to track the accused,” said Subhash Boken, spokesperson of Gurgaon police.
