BENGALURU: A 21-year-old youth was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted by the crew of a
private bus in a
road rage incident on Tumakuru Road late Friday night.
The victim, Raghu S, is a resident of Anchepalya. The incident took place around 11.30pm, when Raghu and his friend Manjunath were travelling on Tumakuru Road flyover on their bike. According to police, a bus operated by Seabird Tourists, bearing registration number KA-51 B 408, was heading to Karwar on the same road. When the bus driver suddenly jumped lanes, Manjunath and Raghu questioned him. A verbal argument broke out, which soon turned into a physical fight. The bus crew resumed the journey after reportedly dragging Raghu into the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Manjunath informed his friends and rushed to Peenya police station. Around 2am, police officers called Seabird staffers on the phone to enquire what had happened. Subsequently, the crew dropped Raghu near Sakleshpur in
Hassan district around 4am. Raghu stopped another bus headed to Bengaluru and got admitted at KC General Hospital after reaching the city.
Police have registered a kidnap and attempt-to-murder case against the accused and have launched a manhunt for them. When contacted, Seabird authorities said they weren't aware of the incident.
