Social activitist Anna Hazare is likely to inaugurate new block of 11 classrooms being built at the Government Upgraded Higher Primary School in Daddalkadu in Bantwal.
Governor Vajubhai Vala had inaugurated 18 new classrooms of the school in January.
Prakash Anchan, the President of Durga Friends Club, which adopted the school in 2015, told The Hindu that he and other members of the club recently met Anna Hazare in Ralegan Siddhi. They went around the campus of Shri Sant Nilobaray Vidyalaya, which admits students who have failed.
Mr. Anchan said the philosophy of the school in Ralegan Siddhi matched with that of his school that was serving interests of children from backward and economically weaker sections.
“We do not want any child in the area to miss out of quality education for want of money,” he said while recalling of circumstances that forced him and his younger brother Shekar to leave their education midway for a job in Mumbai.
Mr. Anchan said Anna Hazare was happy with the work done by Daddalkadu residents in strengthening the government school in their locality. He was also glad over the movement initiated by Mr. Anchan in protecting the government schools across the State. “He has readily agreed to visit the school for inauguration of the new block.”
The club members constructed new building of the school with 18 classrooms in two phases. The club members have now taken up construction of 11 additional classrooms, a compound wall and new auditorium.
