A dual carriageway has been shut amid reports that an aeroplane has crashed onto the road.
The A40 between Abergavenny and Raglan is closed following the incident, and police have told people to avoid the area.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing thick smoke in the area, while photos on social media showed cars stopped on the road and people getting out of their vehicles.

Police statement
Gwent Police have released this statement: “We are currently at the scene of an incident involving a light aircraft close to the A40 between Raglan and Abergavenny.
“Officers were called at approximately 11am this morning, after the aircraft was reported to have made an unscheduled landing in the area, colliding with overhead wiring.
“Fellow emergency services and Western Power also attended the scene to help deal with the incident.
“Three occupants of the light aircraft were treated by paramedics at the scene. Their injuries are not life-threatening.
“The A40 remains closed between the Hardwick roundabout and Raglan. Please avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes for your journey.”
The plane reportedly 'missed every car on the road.'
Witnesses have said the plane landed on the carriageway and ‘missed every car on the road’ as it is revealed just two people were taken to hospital with ‘minor injuries.’

A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said two people have been taken to hospital with “minor injuries”.
They were taken to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny by ambulance.

Reports of engine cutting out
Dan Tightly wrote on facebook: “This must of been the plane I heard going over earlier, the engine didn’t sound too good, sounded like it was cutting out.”
Reports a 'man pulled the passengers from the wreckage'
Kelly Hale claims a man was able to pull out the passengers, and her partner was reportedly stood next to him.
She wrote on Facebook: “They’re safe and the guy is a hero. But the plane is still burning and the road is closed.”
'A plane has come down and caught fire'
According to Inrix Traffic: “Police confirm a plane has come down and caught fire.
“The road will remain closed for a while.”
The A40 in Raglan, Monmouthshire, is closed in both directions.

Witnesses describe hearing a “large explosion” before seeing “massive plume of smoke in sky”
'Private landing strip nearby'
A Twitter user has said the plane has crashed at a location which is close to a private landing strip.
Three fire engines at the scene
A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the incident at 11.03am.
She said: “We are currently in attendance.”
Three fire engines are at the scene, including two crews from Abergavenny and one from Blaenavon.
They said they are not able to release further details at this stage.

Bus services in the area cancelled
The crash site is visible from quite a distance, with plumes of smoke spotted above where the incident occurred. The smoke is understood to be affecting traffic in the area.
